Adult Flight Training
Our purpose at West Michigan Flight Academy is to give youth the opportunity to pursue a highly
advanced technical career related to the Aviation and Aerospace industries.  We create
experiences for the student that builds character and develop skills in communication, social,
technical, professional discipline and accountability.
We also have an adult flight training
program and it’s as follows.

Flight Instruction
Our Certified Flight Instructors (CFI, CFII, MEI) provide the highest quality instruction to new pilots
interested in obtaining their Private Pilot Licenses and to the licensed pilot interested in earning
their instrument and commercial ratings.

Ground School
We periodically conduct ground school to prepare candidates for their private pilot FAA-required
knowledge test.

Aircraft
We currently operate a Piper Cherokee 140, a Cessna 150 and a Cessna 172

Cost
The cost of flight training varies with the kind of course undertaken by the student. You can
expect to pay somewhere in the range of $6000 to $7500 for your private pilot license with
WMFA. The FAA prescribes a minimum flying time of 40 hours; however the national average is
of about 55 to 65 hours.

Instructional Rates are as follows:
Private Pilot - $38.00 Hr Ground and / or Flight Time
Commercial / Instrument - $40.00 Hr Ground and / or Flight Time

Aircraft Rental: Piper Cherokee and Cessna 172 $105.00 per hour and $85.00 per hour for for
the Cessna 150. (All pricing subject to change)
